Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello from Argentina, I want to update the processor of the pavilion g4 1361la laptop, factory brought an Intel Pentium B960 and I want to make the change with an i5 2540m
The socket is the same, the tdp is the same, the chipset is the same, but I couldn't find anywhere if the bios of this laptop supports it, its version is f.42 and I understand that there was no more, I ask for help from the entire community, thank you experts.

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook:

c03137358.pdf

The list of supported Intel processors can be found in chapter 1, starting on page 2.

Since the Intel Pentium B960 processor is a member of the Intel Sandy Bridge processor family, you can install any of the Intel 2nd generation core processors listed in the service manual such as the i5-2540M processor you mentioned or even the Intel Core i7-2640M processor.

There is actually a newer BIOS version (F.66) but I don't believe that you would have to update the BIOS to install any of the 2nd generation Intel core processors listed in the manual:

The BIOS updates were written to be run using W7/W8, so I don't know what would happen if you try to update the BIOS in W10.

Info and exe file links to BIOS vF.66:
