I have a hp pavilion DM4-1024TX entertainment series notebook with in-built 3GB ram but my pc has started to lag due  which I've started to think to change/upgrade my Ram capacity to 8 GB with Corsair 8 gb ddr3l 1600Mhz 1.35V ram. my question is that my product specs says i can upgrade it to 8gb DDR3 ram, So is there a difference between DDR3 and DDR3L

configuration?

and is there a way i can speed up my system too.

and moreover, my pc had crashed few months back which resulted my internal 500GB hard disk space to minimize to just 80-90GB. Can i recover those lost space too?

Regards

DDR3L is 1.35 volt and DDR3 is 1.5. You do not need and should not buy DDR3L. Use DDR3-1333 or -1066 SO-DIMM.

On that model series with the 1st gen Intel Core processor it is critical that you use low density modules...i.e they have to have 8 black blocks on the side of the module and not 4.
