HI All,
I recently purchased the HP Pavilion X360 14-dh1014ne thinking that it would have a backlit keyboard. Finding out it didn't isn't a deal breaker, but thought I would see if it was possible to fit one.
After doing some research, I know that the top-cover with keyboard can be replaced, if the mainboard has an extra slot for the light cable. However, I'm not sure what part I could replace it with. I've so far only been able to find the keyboard by itself and not the keyboard with top cover. This means the process would be extra work.
My main question is for my particular model which part. I have seen 14-cdxxxx keyboards, but not 100% certain of compatibility. Also what is the difference between the x360 14 and 14m?
Thanks in advance,
K

You would need to replace the whole top cover. Sellers offering just the keyboard are engaged in misleading marketing. They have somehow gotten a part which is a component of a larger part and attaches into the top cover with rivets. No real way to do a replacement of just the keyboard. We get a lot of people who ask about doing this and I have never actually seen anyone do it when the scope and expense of the project becomes apparent. The 14 and 14m are the same model series its the -dh1xxx which is definitive.
See p. 16 of the Manual here:
The deal-breaker is on p. 68:
Keyboard/top cover
The top cover with keyboard remains after removing all other spared parts from the computer
So to replace the top cover with a different top cover requires 100% disassembly and rebuilding of the laptop.
Post back with any other questions and please accept as solution if this is the info you needed even if not what you wanted to see.
