So my charger would not enter the port correctly so I think I've forced it too much. Are these pins bent in any way and if so, how do you fix that issue? Thanks!

Hi,

There seems to be a part missing. Is it in the tip of the charger? You could try placing back in.

the best way is to replace the charger port and also check the tip of the ac charger. There are many series of Pavilion G6 and even more model. If you provide the complete model or product number (not serial) I can try to help you replace the port by giving you guide ans where you can buy part.

Here is link to HP support page showing how to find this number:

Let me know,

I couldn't find anything apart from a small white circle that doesn't seem to fit anywhere. Do either of those pins look bent to you? If so, how do I fix them?

Ok. Again I will tell you that a whole part of the port is missing and has been pulled out. It is possible that the part is attached to the tip of the ac adapter. This is what the port should look like:

So either the part is on the tip of charger and you can try to remove it and replace it into the port. If this is not possible, you will need to replace the port.

I can't see it attached to the plug anywhere. Is it as simple as buying one and inserting it?

HP Recommended

No.

You will need to replace the power connector in the PC. If you provide the exact model or product number I can show you how this is done.

Hi,

Nice of @REO51ST to help while I was not online. Personally, I usually only try to add to answers already given.

So, to replace the powercord you will need to buy the part. which has part number 813945-001

If you search online in your country with part number you should be able to find quite easily. On page 66 of service manual you can see the steps to replace the power cord.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04653881

It says to remove display assembly, however it might be enough to remove the screws from the hinge vlose to power cord to be able to fit it in.

Hope it helps,

David
