Microsoft Windows 11

I have been having issues with my laptop charger, I have a HP pavilion 200 w charger and I have changed it twice as they have a tendency to short after a few months of use.

My latest charger also shorted all of a sudden. I don't know the reason. My work demands me to be on my laptop for hours and my charger needs to be connected to my charger for it to run properly I have a gaming laptop and the battery life is horrible.

What should I do? Should I switch to a lower wattage charger or use a stabilizer to reduce the chances of fluctuations if any. What should I do? Please help.

Replace the power adapter with the appropriate HP brand power adapter.

I wold provide the part number, but you did not take the time to identify your laptop.

"Shorted"?

Does your location often have power dropouts of over-voltage  fluctuations?

Those type of events will destroy a power adapter and even a desktop PC or laptop.

Had you considered using a surge protector or an uninterruptible power supply (UPS)?

HP has produced and brought to market more than a thousand different models of notebooks and desktop PCs over the years.

It is difficult to help you if we don't know which specific model you own..

Method #1: If the notebook will boot into Windows, you can retrieve your Product Number by pressing Fn + Esc key.

Method #2: Press the power button and immediately tap the F10 key to invoke the BIOS. In the Main section, you will find the Product number or Product ID. Post that in your next reply in your thread.

Method #3: Press the power button and immediately tap the F2 key.

Method #4: If powering on is not an option, take a look at the bottom of the laptop for the label with the product name and product number. For a desktop look at the rear for the label.

If your laptop has HP Hardware Diagnostics UEFI version 10.3.0.0, there is a System Information section that also has the Product ID.
We need that information, along with the installed Operating System information to help you.

I am using the HP pavilion gaming series system. My previous charger shorted and burnt cause of this fluctuations and the previous one also had the same issue. But both happened in different locations, my home and my work place. Honesty I don't know if this is common or my luck sucks. 🥲.

It would have been nice if you had taken the time to read what I wrote in my previous reply. I will not repeat it.

Laptop: HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2xxx

Product ID: 552W3PA

I am experiencing a lot of fluctuations in my area due to weather issues. I visited the HP service centre and got my charger checked. fortunately, the charger connector the input adapter was burnt due to a fluctuation.  The charger itself managed to survive. I have bought a stabiliser to avoid this from happening.

That was a suggestion I made a few replies back.
