HP ZBook Power 15.6 inch G8 Mobile Workstation PC (33D83AV)

Can anybody refer to a USB-C Charger that is capable to charge a Zbook Power G8?

So far I tried a 100W Xiaomi USB-C 12 Volt charger and a Delock USB-C Docking station with a 135W power supply.

The HP tools always warn that the power supply is too low. Based on that it obviously supports charging via USB-C but I didn't find any working charger yet.

I also tried a 67W 230V AC Xiaomi Charger, but doesn't charge anything either into the HP.

Ok, it just seems to be some specification missing in the Xiaomi devices....

I found a 65W ugreen AC charger, with a Baseus high quality cable. It just loads 65 W as expected when the machine if switched off but stops charging after ~15 minutes. It was able to load about 10-15% into the battery, but while the machine is running it stops charging.

I checked the charging with a power meter outside on 230V AC...

So it seems to be possible generally.

I now ordered a Baseus 100W charger for 12V automobile... let's see if it supports the HP Zbook better than the 67W Xiaomi loader which never charges anything. into the HP.

After it seems that none of the Xiaomi chargers is charging anything to that non-Xiaomi HP ZBook, my first thought was that those chargers only support Qualcoms Quick Charge (QC), but I learned that Xioami charging is based on some proprietary modified Power Delivery (PD)... As there is not much information about the customers modifications, it seems that all the idea of universal charging via USB for all devices and vendors got consciously ignored by manufacturers...

From what I understand the HP ZBook and also other notebooks will need some powerful standard Power Delivery (PD) charger of maybe 100W or more. Are there any specification which PD and which power rate is really required?

At least the ugreen 65W charger with PD 3.0 (I guess) is able to start charging but for any reasons stops after some minutes, maybe due to some overload protection OR because the HP devices stops charging for the power rate being too low.

Forget about the Xiaomi stuff, a cheap Baseus 100W charger was charging the HP around ~96W 😀 Probably by PD 3.0...

I have a Zbook G8. I had purchased the Xiaomi 120W USB-C charger supporting 20V/6A PD but got the same message about power supply being inadequate. I was able to charge the laptop when switched off up to 100% at 45W.

I also have a triple port Baseus 65W GaN charger and the effect was the same.

I used both these chargers with my Asus Vivobook that comes with a 150W barrel charger and found that the Asus laptop at least works over USB-C without any messages, though it automatically limits the input draw to 65W even with the Xiaomi charger, so the battery doesn’t discharge either.

It seems HP is more at fault in deliberately not allowing the laptop to work with lower wattage Type C chargers.

Anyway, does the 100W Baseus charger work with the laptop on and with no error/warning messages? If so, can you link me to it?

A 140W charger for 230V AC: https://a.aliexpress.com/_EvWYc6l

A 100W charger for 12V DC: https://www.ebay.de/itm/185541474215

Both are loading the ZBook with around ~100 Watt.
