I was wondering if my laptop could be charged with the usb-c port, and if so where do I get a charger that will work? I tried an HP Elite charging dock which is apparently, and HP support chat seems to be telling me that there are no HP usb-c docks that will work with this laptop. Is there a usb-c charging cord that will work with this laptop, or alternatively can anyone direct me towards a third party option? Ideally I would be able to combine the charging and HDMI functions into the usb-c port, which is why I was looking for a dock, but I don't know how to check if anything I find will be compatible.

Yes, you can charge your machine using USB-C ports. It uses 90W charger therefore you need a compatible USB-C charger. HP does not supply a compatible one as shown on page 20 of the following manual

The following one would be compatible:

Updated: For a dock, please read the following document

You have a Thunderbolt type USB-C port which has Power Delivery as a feature. In other words, the laptop can be charged through the USB-C port and a Thunderbolt dock will work fine. Your laptop is delivered with a 90w power supply so you should stay away from docks which only provide up to say 60w of power. Most of the HP Thunderbolt docks that deliver that much power use a combination USB-C and barrell adapter which will not fit your laptop.
