Hello,
I have had my HP Victus laptop for a little over a year now, but a few months ago started having a problem with the computer sometimes not recognising that it was plugged in. The tip of the plug would get very hot to the touch and I would only be able to charge my laptop if the cord/plug was oriented in a certain position
I thought the issue was the charging cable, and so purchased a new one from HP, but have now found that I am experiencing the same issue. After a few weeks with it plugged in I tried to unplug the computer, but found it very hard to remove, and when I did I saw that the socket in my laptop for the charging cable, as well as the interior of the power plug at the tip of the charging cable, were partially melted. I have not tampered with my laptop or battery in any way, and want to know if it is possible for it be repaired. Thank you for your time.

From your description it would seem that a component of the charging circuit on the system board has malfunctioned.
An HP service center would not repair it if you sent it in for repair, instead the system board would be replaced.
There are shops that repair down to the component level in the US, UK and many other countries. One such shop is located in Shaftesbury, England.
The owner has a YouTube channel and I have been a subscriber for a few years.

I suggest getting in contact with him as his business is in your region of the world.
In the case of your laptop, I would not use it further as it may catch fire.
It requires disassemble, inspection and repair by a competent Electronics technician or service engineer before it can be used again.
