Hi,

My apologies if this is on the wrong board, im new to the forum and wasnt sure which option to put it under.

I bought my Pavilion 15-cw0509sa earlier this month and it doesn't seem to charge properly. At first it seemed that i couldn't work on it plugged in if the battery was flat but now it just doesn't seem to charge at all. Its new so i know i could just take it back but I've spent some time getting it all set up and don't need the hassle of doing it again. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,Sam

Hi @Staticsam

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the charging issue.

Let's try these steps to test the battery -

1. Shutdown the computer.
2. Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.
3. Press F2 once.
4. Go to Component test.
5. From the list, run the Battery test.

If the battery test result passes, try re-installing the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery -

1. In the search box, type and open “Device Manager”.
2. Expand “Batteries”.
3. Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.
4. Click on “Uninstall”.
5. At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver
6. Shutdown the computer.
7. Remove the battery for minute and then put it back in.
8. When the computer comes back up it should automatically find the driver.
9. Go to Device Manager.
10. Expand Batteries.
11. Right click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.
12. Click "Search automatically for updated driver software". Repeat the same steps for Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
