Product: HP EliteBook 845 G7 Notebook PC (8VZ06AV)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

        Despite checking the option "Maximize Battery Savings", the 80% Charging limit is not being imposed.

Battery would still charge to 100%. 

 

         Is is not that 'windows is reporting 100% despite 80% 

proof:    I took out battery config report from cmd and checked hwmonitor readings,  the 'current charge'  totally  matches the  'capacity'.

 

         Also compared the charging times with the "Maximize Battery Savings" option on and off, it  took same time to charge from 0 to 100 in both cases, which absolutely means the setting is not working.

 

Solutions I already tried:

1. I updated the bios, (currently on latest version)

2. Toggled the setting from bios and the hp battery management app

3. Configured all windows battery settings, Windows is not interfering

4. Reset the CMOS battery by pressing space + some key combo idk.

5. Drained the battery completely and charged again

6. Tried installing linux os

 

All these solutions  did not work, I am requesting a deep technical analysis ASAP. I am eager to send any screenshots or videos if required.
