Hi @Mahi93,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP Notebook's charging port. There could be several reasons why it's not working. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to identify and potentially resolve the problem.
- Check the power adapter: Ensure that the power adapter is functioning correctly. Sometimes, the issue might not be with the charging port but with the adapter or its cable. Try using a different power adapter and cable if possible to see if the problem persists.
- Inspect the charging port: Examine the charging port on your HP Notebook for any visible damage or debris. Sometimes, dust, lint, or other foreign objects can accumulate inside the port, preventing proper contact with the charger. If you notice any debris, carefully clean the port using compressed air or a soft brush. Be gentle to avoid causing further damage.
- Test the charger with another device: If you have another compatible device, such as a smartphone or another laptop, try using the charger with that device to see if it charges correctly. This will help you determine whether the issue lies with the charging port or the charger itself.
- Check the battery: In some cases, the battery may be causing the problem. If the battery is faulty or depleted, it might not accept a charge. Try removing the battery (if possible) and then plugging in the charger to see if the laptop powers on. If it does, the battery might need replacement.
- Update drivers and software: Ensure that all the drivers and software related to power management and battery charging are up to date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause charging issues.
- Perform a hard reset: Shut down the laptop, unplug it, and then press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds. This will discharge any residual power and might help reset the charging system.
- Test in different power outlets: Sometimes, the issue might be with the power outlet itself. Try charging the laptop from different outlets to rule out this possibility.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
