HP ENVY x360 - 15-bp152nr
Microsoft Windows 11

The charge percentage in my laptop's battery does not increase beyond 73% even when it is plugged in. I tried all the possible solutions - Updated BIOS, deleted the battery drivers, performed battery check in BIOS . The battery is being shown healthy.

As the last step, I performed a System Fast Test. I received a message - Charging port test - Failed - with the failure ID ->UAG07A- 903B8W-GXGGQK-08B303.

All the other functions work fine. It's only that the battery doesn't charge to its full capacity (100%) , it stops at any random percentage between 65 and 75.

HI,

In the knowledgebase article that I wrote, there is an explanation of how to invoke and use the Battery-Report utility that is part of your Windows operating system.

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Knowledge-Base/Is-your-notebook-plugged-in-and-not-charging/...

Compare the design capacity to the current capacity to see where 100% full charge is in your (now) used main battery.

Generally, a battery which will no longer charger above 70% needs to be replaced with a new one.

Just so you know, industry wide the warranty for lithium ion batteries in notebooks is one year, unless c care pack has been purchased and its terms include battery replacement.

If your notebook is outside of the warranty window, you can either replace it on your own or have it done at a laptop shop.

You should have performed a battery test instead of a system test. Chances are that the battery test may not run.

Thank you @erico for your support

Performed battery test. The result is PASS. The battery charge capacity is 60%. Is that the cause ?

Yes.

That full charge capacity that is the actual 100% is quite low.

The battery needs to be replaced.

The number of cycles shown in the test is within the conservative 300-500 cycles that most manufacturers report as average end of service life for a laptop main battery.

Everything else accepted. If the problem is with the battery , why did the charging port test fail ? Is it a thing that the test fails when the battery is nearing its lifetime ?

HP Recommended

That appears to be just the name for the part of test  which failed that the designer of the code or marketing decided to give it.

You chose to run the system test instead of the battery test, which is actually available as  a component test.

If you run Windows own Battery-Report utility, I expect that the result will be the same.

If you plug in the power adapter and the power/charge led lights up in amber and then changes to white, the power adapter and the port is OK.
