Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've been facing this problem lately.. When I try to charge my laptop it charges only upto around 60%, this percentage is different everytime and once it reaches it, the charging indicator light turns white..

But then if I plug it back, then only it charges fully.. Why is it not charging fully at first place???

Please help me..

I understand your concerns.

In that case, I would suggest you perform the system reset.

Windows 10 has a reset feature that repairs your computer by reinstalling the operating system. This feature is recommended for recovery because it reinstalls Windows 10 while either preserving your personal data and customizations or removing all your personal data.

You have a choice of two methods to reset your computer.

  • If Windows 10 loads correctly, see the section titled Perform a Windows 10 system reset in Windows in this document.

  • If Windows 10 does not start correctly, see the section titled Perform a Windows 10 system reset through Windows Recovery Environment in this document.

Have a nice day!!

Welcome to HP Community

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

Please reinstall the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery and check if that helps

Step 01. Click on the Start Button
Step 02. Type "Device Manager" in the start search box & open the Device Manager
Step 03. Look for Batteries and expand it by click on the + symbol on the left
Step 04. Right Click on "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" & uninstall
Note: This Battery driver will get re-installed automatically when you restart the Notebook again
Step 05. Please Shutdown the Notebook
Step 06. Remove the Battery and unplug the Power Adapter ( For Notebooks with Removable Batteries )
Step 07. Press and Hold the Power Button for full 1 Minute
Step 08. Go ahead and put back the Battery and connect the Power Adapter and restart

Next update the BIOS from this Link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

If the issue persists run a Battery Test again to confirm the Hardware Functionality

- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Power > Battery

Let me know how it goes 😊

Sorry for late reply..I almost forgot. But I tried as you said, but it didn't work out. I did battery test as well, but I don't know where to check its result..And also I would like to add that if I'm using laptop while charging, then there's no issue. It charges without any stoppage till 100%. But when it is put down to sleep, hibernate or shut down, then the problem persists..

Thanks that actually helped!!!  After reinstalling Windows I updated it as I'd few cumulative updates pending from long time..So I don't know whether updating windows or reinstalling it fixed the issue. But I'm glad it's fixed now.

The problem is occurring again. Should I change the battery? Will warranty cover the new battery ? My laptop is still under base warranty...
