HP notebook 14-bp090no
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, i have bought a HP notebook 14-bp090no (not with full keyboard, so a smaller sized one - don't know if it will matter in this case).

It has the possibility to connect with usb-c type cables, but i can't figure out if it is for datatransfering  only or for charging too.

I hope someone knows or have tried.

I am not up for trying since it could frie the computer if it is for data only...

Thanks in advance.

Yes. Data only, not power.   You can also tell by the symbol next to each port.

HP chose to not allow charging the notebook via the USB 3.1 type-C  port.

The USB 3.1 Type-C  ports on your notebook are

1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (Data Transfer up to 5 Gb/s); 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Data transfer only);

The ports are for data transfer only, not for charging.

It is highly recommended that you charge the ultrabook with the power supply that it was delivered with. Otherwise, you are taking the risk of damaging the notebook 's system board.

So both the type C and the other ones are for data only? I found that same line and it specifies that the regular usb ports are for data only, but says nothing about the C one.

I am well aware of the risk of putting power through a regular usb port, but the c-type is often used for both on other units.
