Run the advanced battery test from within HP Support Assistant which was either pre-loaded on your laptop or can be downloaded from the support page for your model.

Advanced test result will include this:
- Warranty Type: 3
- Cycle count: 3 / 1000
- Manufacturer: 333-2C-1A
The manufacturer number can be translated to tell if your battery is genuine HP or not. The one in this laptop on which I ran the test is not.
