Product - HP Pavilion 15 - AU004TX
OS : Win 10 (64 bit)
I checked the documentation available on HP Support page and it says the maximum RAM Capacity is 16GB (8 GB per slot). But when I tried to check it using cmd it says 32 GB (16 GB per slot).
I used this command -
wmic memphysical get maxcapacity
and got 33554432 as result.
and 33554432 / (1024*1024) = 32
I have attached the cmd screenshot
Is there any way to confirm this? And any reason why this difference is there ?
Any help is much appreciated

Hi:
I cannot find any posts where someone has installed 32 GB of memory in your notebook.
What I can tell you is the report you ran is probably correct.
According to Intel your notebook's processor supports 32 GB of memory.
Intel® Core™ i7-6500U Processor (4M Cache, up to 3.10 GHz) Product Specifications
However, since the service manual and even the Crucial memory report indicate the max is 16 GB, it would be a slight gamble on your part to go beyond that.

If you want to take a chance on 32 GB, perhaps put one toe in the water and buy a 16 GB memory chip.
Add it to the existing memory in there now and if the PC boots up, reports the correct capacity of memory and works fine, then you would be safe to add the second one.
This would be the memory chip I would recommend you try...
