Chromebook 13C-CA0013DX has worked for almost a year, but has stopped charging; I tried all the Google recommendations, but nothing works. HP site says the warrantee expired months BEFORE my sale slip says I  bought it. I can't access anyone anywhere through this site and it's making me nuts......

Hi @Perihelion1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that your HP Chromebook is no longer charging. This issue could be caused by various factors, and it's essential to troubleshoot the problem step by step. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Check the Power Adapter: First, ensure that the power adapter is working correctly. Look for any visible damage to the adapter or its cable. You can also try using a different power outlet to rule out any issues with the outlet itself.
  • Inspect the Charging Port: Check the charging port on your Chromebook for any debris, dust, or damage. Sometimes, debris can prevent proper connection between the charger and the device.
  • Restart your Chromebook: It's a simple step, but restarting your Chromebook may resolve some software-related issues that could be causing charging problems.
  • Perform a Hard Reset: If a simple restart doesn't work, try performing a hard reset. To do this, turn off your Chromebook, disconnect the charger, and then press and hold the refresh key (the key with the circular arrow) and the power button simultaneously for about 10 seconds. Afterward, plug the charger back in and try turning on your Chromebook.
  • Check Battery Health: Chromebooks have built-in battery health tools that allow you to check the health of your battery. Go to "chrome://system" in your Chrome browser and click on "battery_info" to see the battery status and cycle count.
  • Update Chrome OS: Make sure your Chromebook is running the latest version of Chrome OS. Sometimes, system updates can fix charging-related issues.
  • Try a Different Charger: If possible, try using a different compatible charger to see if the issue lies with the charger itself.
  • Check for Physical Damage: Inspect your Chromebook for any signs of physical damage, particularly around the charging port and power cable. Any damage could affect the charging process.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

While I appreciate the contact, this doesn't help, largely because I researched all of these steps through Google and tried them before posting here. Suggestions about checking the battery health, "restarting" or updating the operating system are rather pointless, since the computer is completely dead - zip, zero, nadda reaction when I plug it in and hit the power button.

Sorry,

Michael

Honestly, this is the information I'd hoped to get in the first place - the website is NOT helpful for someone with an at all uncommon question. It's fairly clear that the corporate HP has no interest at all in a $700 computer....

Thanks for the link!
