USI pen stopped charging and working. Performed a reset, and the issue is not resolved. The screen responds when I use my finger for the tough screen, but not when I use the pen. I purchased a new pen thinking it would solve the problem, and it did not.

Hi @yadmart,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I'm sorry to hear about the issue with your Chromebook x2 11 and the USI pen. It’s frustrating when even a replacement pen doesn’t resolve the problem. Let’s try to figure this out together. Here are a few questions to better understand the issue:

  • Does your Chromebook recognize the pen in any way, such as briefly responding when you try to pair or charge it?
  • Have you updated the Chromebook's operating system to ensure it has the latest drivers for pen functionality?
  • Have you tried using the pen on another compatible device to rule out hardware issues with the pen itself?

Let's try these steps.

Verify Pen Compatibility:

  • Confirm that both the original and replacement pens are USI-compliant and designed for your Chromebook x2 11. Non-compliant pens may not function properly.

Check Charging Port and Accessories:

  • Inspect the pen’s charging port for debris or damage.
  • Test the pen with a different USB-C cable and power adapter to rule out charging issues.

Test in Diagnostics Mode:

  • Press Esc + Refresh + Power to boot into Chromebook Recovery Mode, then access Diagnostics.
  • Check if the pen is detected under input devices or touchscreen diagnostics.

Reset the Chromebook Hardware:

  • Turn off your Chromebook and press Refresh + Power to perform a hardware reset.
  • After the reset, test the pen functionality again.

Recalibrate or Test Stylus Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Device > Stylus to ensure stylus functionality is enabled.
  • Try recalibrating the touchscreen or resetting the stylus settings.

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, it’s possible there’s a hardware issue with the Chromebook’s digitizer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hello, I've completed a hard reset and issue remains. My USI pen is a charged magnetically when attached to the side of the Chromebook. It shows it as charging. It stopped working after an update a few months back. I purchased a new magnetic pen thinking it would fix the problem, but it didn't. The touch screen works if I use my finger.

Hi @yadmart ,

We apologize for the inconvenience. The issue seems to persist even after attempting the troubleshooting steps mentioned above.

This might require one-on-one interaction via remote assistance to fix the issue over the phone.
