My chromebook x360 is about 1 year old. A couple of days ago, I noticed that it wasn't charging when I plugged in the charger while using the chromebook. I eventually found that the only way it would charge was if I either shut it down or closed the lid (putting it in sleep mode) with the charger in. If I started/woke the machine back up, it would show that it was charging, and it charges at the same speed it always has. So, the only way it won't charge is if I'm using the machine and then plug in the charger (which I used to do all the time). Anyone ever experience this? I'm aware that I can just have it serviced. I'm just asking if anyone has experienced this and/or knows what causes this behavior. Thanks.

Thanks for the quick reply. A hard reset fixed the issue -- thanks very much!
EDIT: To HP Support, please do not unaccept this as the solution. Your answer was helpful, but it was not the solution. I found the exact solution to my specific problem, which is why I bolded the relevant text above and accepted this post as the solution. When I search for answers to a problem online and I find posts that just point to a generic support doc, it's certainly not as helpful as seeing the exact answer to my problem, so I accepted this post for others who may encounter the same problem.

Apparently, this is a common problem with HP Chromebooks, you can refer to this document just in case you intend to figure things out before deciding to take it for servicing.

Also, you should still have your warranty in check but you can always check your warranty status with this link.

Keep me posted on this.
