HP Victus 15-FA0033DX with Intel® Core™ i5-12450H and NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 3050 4 GB GDDR6

Hi everyone,

I’m considering buying the HP Victus 15-FA0033DX with Intel® Core™ i5-12450H and NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX 3050 4 GB GDDR6, and I noticed that the official specs mention a maximum supported RAM of 16GB and a maximum SSD storage of 1TB

Before purchasing, I’d like to confirm:

  1. Can this laptop support more than 16GB of RAM, or is there a hardware/BIOS limitation?
  2. Can I install a 2TB SSD, or will there be compatibility issues?

I’d appreciate any insights from users or HP representatives. Thanks in advance!

@Gionee_qq,

Since your model comes with an Intel 12th gen processor, 32 GB (2x16 GB) or even more should be supported. Click this link and run the command line to find the max RAM capacity your model can handle.

2 Steps to Check Maximum RAM Capacity of Your Computer

Basically, M.2 NVMe SSDs have no capacity limit. You can install a 2 TB NVMe gen4 SSD.

Thanks for your response!

I don’t have the laptop yet, but I plan to buy it soon. I was wondering—if the Intel 12th Gen i5 processor supports 32GB RAM, why does HP's official website list the maximum as only 16GB? Could there be a BIOS limitation or another factor preventing higher upgrades? Or does HP mean that 16GB is simply the highest configuration the laptop comes with from the factory rather than the actual hardware limit?

Also, regarding storage, if M.2 NVMe SSDs have no capacity limit, why does HP specify 1TB as the maximum supported SSD? Is it just a tested limit, or could there be compatibility issues beyond that?

I’d appreciate any insights before purchasing. Thanks again!

My understanding is that HP provides 16 GB in some models in the 15-fa0xxx model series, but this doesn't mean 16 GB is the max capacity.

My HP 15-dy2xxx model has an Intel i5 11th gen processor, and Intel specs indicates it supports up to 64 GB, but Windows reports only 32 GB.

Intel specs state your processor supports up to 64 GB.

Intel® Core™ i5-12450H Processor

Your model may support 64 GB since your processor is newer than mine, but only way to find it is to run the command line in the Windows. But most likely, 32 GB is supported.

HP offers 1TB NVMe SSDs in some models, but again this doesn't mean your model only supports up to 1TB.

You can upgrade the NVMe SSD up to 4 TB.

Crucial reports your model supports 64 GB, but you don't know if this is true unless you run the wmic command line (Crucial says my model supports 64 GB, but Windows says only 32GB).

Crucial reports your model supports up to 4 TB NVMe SSDs.
