HP G62-45OSA
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I will like to clean install windows 10 on one of my old computers, an HP G62-45OSA device. (I'd rather not clone my old drive, not that I haven't tried, unsuccessfully so.) I have created a bootable USB flash drive, removed the old hard drive that came with the computer, inserted the new SSD, and attempted to install windows 10 on it by booting up with the USB bootable plugged in. But it keeps coming back with an error saying Windows 10 can't be installed on this computer.

Do I need to partition the SSD before installing windows 10 on it -- or is there something else I need to do first before attempting to install windows 10?

I had assumed this would be easy, but it has been nothing but frustrating. I would appreciate any tips or guides to clean installing windows 10 on HP G62-45OSA.

Thank you!

@bhovah We recommend using the HP recovery media to accomplish this task of reinstalling or performing a clean installation of windows 10, here's all you need to know about it:

If you don't have an HP Recovery media and have attempted reset using the windows troubleshooter or a retail copy of windows,

you'll need to order a recovery media: Click here for steps.

Or you may also attempt to download the same using the steps on this link: click here

Thanks for your response, @Riddle_Decipher.

Tried downloading the recovery thingy, but there sadly isn't one available for my computer:

@bhovah In that case you'll need to order a physical media from HP using the other links I shared,

let me know how that pans out, and good luck!
