Hey guys,

I recently started hearing some creaking coming from the right hinge. I bought this laptop 1 week ago aware of the problem with the hinges as i had already gone through 2 others. This unreliability is frightening me should I return?

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.

My advice:

If you are scared of it, return the computer.

It is that simple, really.

Who are we to say you should buck up and not be scared of something you think is going to break?

What else?

Treat the computer as if the case and hinges are made of glass.

OR

If you are concerned but not freaked out, contact HP Support and report that your very new computer is "creaking".  Will the report mean the computer gets repaired?  Maybe not, but it is good to report (and have recorded) anything that you find wrong, upsetting, potentially a trouble spot.

Honestly, "creak" could portend "things to come" or it could just be scary noise.

I get it.  Really nice feature but fraught with possible issues.

Thank you so much, yes I'm very scared of it because i need to use it for AT LEAST 4 years. And treating it like glass isn't an option as its for school. I think I'm going to take your advice and return it!

You are welcome.

I generally don't advise this course of action - the alternative in this case is fear and anxiety.

You don't need this, especially at school!

The "open wide" x360 is nice - but not really necessary in a lot of cases.  Replace the scary computer with a sturdy "regular" notebook that is the best quality you can manage.  You are going to spend more time with that new computer than with anyone else - make the purchase count.

Good Luck with your classes.

Stay Safe.
