Hello everyone,

I just got my brand-new HP Zbook Fury 16 G11, and the fans are making a very strange/awkward clicking noise when they spin up from their idle state. It sounds like an old HDD, accompanied by a physical kick that can be felt when my hands are on the keyboard. Very unpleasant!

The fan noise is normal, but it’s the kick/spinning up clicking noise that throws me off every time. Is there an explanation for this? Should an upcoming BIOS upgrade maybe fix this.

I’ve read two (1) (2) similar experiences from other users. With the second one having audio files that really describe my situation very well. The first user story blames the heavier metal fan blades. And actually, if I turn the laptop upside down, the fans spin up without that clicking sound!

Please let me know what I can do to fix this.

Thanks in advance for all your support and help.
