I started using a laptop stand and have noticed a massive difference already with my posture as my neck was really painful. However, my laptop has started with a regular clicking sound from the fan area. If I lay the laptop flat again this clicking sounds stops. I then put it onto the stand in the vertical position and the clicking begins again. Can I do anything to fix this?

Unfortunately, the HP website won't let me look at their specs for your PC model, but some other specs I found claim it has an SSD as the drive, so that would not make any noise at all -- and a failing hard drive is often indicated by faint clicking sounds.

The only moving part then would be the fan, and if it is making these sounds when the laptop is not flat, that sounds like a balance problem and that can only be addressed by disassembling the laptop and replacing the fan -- something you should mot certainly NOT attempt yourself.

If this is a new PC model still under warranty, which I suspect it is, then you need to contact HP Customer Support to see what options you have for getting it checked out and repaired.
