Its not missing. Laptops, like yours, with an internal battery, that is, one that requires opening the chassis to replace rather than just clipping it in or installing into an easy open bay, use the internal battery as the RTC power source. That was traditionally one function of a separate CMOS battery. So you will lose a small trickle of power even when the laptop is turned off because the "main" battery also keep the clock updated and holds the BIOS (CMOS) setting. So if the internal battery dies, you will not be able to hold those settings. If your settings are not holding, you need to replace the main battery. Hope that helps.
