Machine need RAM on 2 slots exactly the same to run dual channels. In order to take full advantage of the system running in dual channel mode, the memory modules need to be upgraded in like pairs. 4GB and 8GB are not a pair.

You can use 12GB (4GB + 8GB) but you won't get full benefit of dual channels architecture.

Thank you sir. Can i ask why i wont get the full benifits of dual channel? But do you think it will increases the performance of my laptop in gaming? Because im playing GTAV and 8gb of ram is still not enoug because it was slow and lag. Do you think 12gb ram will make it smooth playing GTAV? Or should i go for 16gb ram. 2x8gb?
