Dear All I am using HP Compaq 420 Notebook PC I am trying to use the CD drive but i doesn't work As soon as I insert a CD/DVD It says "Insert a Valid CD/DVD" or sometimes it shows the content as blank Whereas When I insert the same CD/DVD in my colleagues laptop, the same CD/DVD perfectly works and shows the content or Autorun Can you please suggest what needs to be done in this case please Regards AJ

Likely you need a new DVD drive. You can test that theory if you have a bootable CD or DVD. If the drive is bad (corrupted laser is usually the cause) then the system cannot boot from the drive. If you can boot from the drive but it does not work in Windows then it is a software issue. Replacement drives should be very inexpensive and easy to do the replacement. Post back if you need more help.
