All I would like to know is the maximum allowed/supported ram size (and MHz) of my good old little cute Compaq Mini CQ10-150SH netbook.

I was able to find the manuals for your PC

The computer is available with 1 GB of memory, but supports up to 2 GB of single channel memory.
DDR2 PC2-6400, 533-MHz memory module.
