I presently have an Intel Pentium 4 540 (3.2-GHz) CPU in this laptop, but it's a 32bit CPU, and I was hoping to upgrade to a 64bit CPU (not sure if the Motherboard/BIOS even supports 64bit). I do have an Intel Core 2 Duo T7400 (2.16-GHz) lying around I could toss into it, but I'd like to know ahead of time it's just not going to work, and I won't waste my time. I believe the socket is the same for both (PPGA478).

Hi, @Xorcist77

A T7400 processor absolutely won't work.

Your notebook needs to have a mobile intel GM or PM 945 chipset (which it does not have) for one of those to work.
