You're very welcome.

That is correct.

The GL40 chipset can only run processors with a max FSB of 800 MHz, and the other ones higher than that listed as supported in your notebook's service manual have 1066 MHz FSB's.

If you want to experiment, there is a T6600 processor with an 800 MHz FSB.

It's not listed as supported in the service manual though.

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook's model series.

Chapter 1 has the processor upgrade info.

You have to know what chipset your notebook comes with in order to determine what processor you can upgrade to.

I have zipped up and attached below, a free utility that will tell you what chipset your notebook has.

Your notebook's chipset must be an Intel GM or PM 45 in order to install any of the processors beyond the T5900.

If it has a GL-40 chipset you can only go to the T5900.

This was the last BIOS update for models with the Intel processors.

It was only written to be run on Vista or W7, so I have no idea what will happen if you try to run it on W10.  It could wreck your notebook.

Intel GL40 (Cantiga-GL) + ICH9M (Base)

So the newest processor I can use is T5900?

Thanks for all!

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

Please post back and let us know how the processor upgrade went.

You can't beat the price you paid for the processor!
