Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

A customer of ours has an HP EliteBook 840 G4 laptop.
She also has an HP USB-C Dock G5.

However, she is unable to connect multiple displays with this dock. She ontvant the message "Display connection may be limited. Please verify that the DisplayPort device you are connecting to is supported by your PC."

The dock works fine on other (non-HP) laptops.

The BIOS is up to date as is Windows and the graphics card. The computer has only a single USB-C port.

The dock itself also has the latest firmware.

Any tips or any indications what this problem could be due to?

Sounds like the 840 G4 is not quite right. I'm using an HP USB-C G5 dock on my HP 840 G5 now and no problem so far after 3 years. I also tested the dock on an HP Envy 15-ee0047nr machine and a Dell 2-in-1 13-7xxx. It is TRUE single cable connection for the 840 G5 but not for the Envy and the Dell. All get 3 FHD external monitors (I don't have 4K monitor to test).

Please use table on pages 5 and 5 of the following document to check.

And note: Document (page 39) also says: the HP USB-C G5 is not compatible with the HP 840 G4 machine. The list:
