Excusse me I can't edit the previous message, I see now hat my actual I3-380 are at 35 W not 18 W so can by beeter I5-580M or I7-640M?

HP Recommended

Yes, I think that even though they are not listed as supported in the manual, I don't see any reason why they wouldn't work, unless the BIOS doesn't have the microcode for those processors, and we wouldn't know if it does or not until you try one out.

Excuse me, yes, it was a translator problem, I meant watts

Then I will tray  i7-640M and I5-580M and the last if not is possible the I5-580M from the compatibility list, but I don't know is can be few difference between I I5-580 and the actual I3-380M.

Intel has a very handy processor comparison utility.

I have posted the link to the processor comparison tables for the i3-380M. i5-480M, i5-580M and the i7-640M:

The blue shaded lines highlight the differences.

Thanks, there's really little difference between them all, right? Even looking at the one  380M I have and the i7-640M, the biggest difference is virtualization and a few extra GHz in the processor.

You're very welcome.

The i5 and i7 processors have Intel Turboboost technology and the graphics performance is slightly better than the i3's.

Even an i5 should have decent improvement over the i3.

In your previous post you said is important the tecnoloogy Intel turbo boost. Windows 7 have drivers por this technology, in Windows 10 and Windows 11 is needed to install the driver for use turbo boost?

How is it used, is it automatic or does it need some utility?

You're very welcome and thanks for letting us know that the i7-640M processor works fine.

Turboboost is automatic.

You can install the free Intel turboboost utility and it will provide a graphic of when turboboost kicks in.

Download Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor Utility 2.6.2.0 for Windows 7, Windows 7 64 bit, Windo...

You can move or change the size of the icon in the settings menu.

It works on W10/W11 too.

I'm running it on a couple of my PCs that are running W11 24H2.
