I would like to replace the existing hard drive in my laptop (ST500LT012-9WS142 - 465.76 GB) with an SSD and would like to know if Kingston's 480GB A400 Sata3 2.5" Internal SSD SA400S37/480G - HDD is compatible.

Many thanks

@LufiG
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

After reading your post, I did go through the Product specifications of your product and found that you have  500GB 5400RPM hard drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection and Hard drive acceleration cache (32GB solid-state drive cache) with Intel Rapid Start Technology and Intel Smart Response Technology.

Click here: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03572829 to know more about storage. ( refer to page 2 Chapter 1 Product description )

NOTE: HP does not recommend upgrading or downgrading hardware parts or software that is bundled with the product as It may affect the manufacturer's warranty and performance, however, you could change the configuration at your own discretion.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thanks for your prompt reply.  I am not worried about the warranty because it has expired long time ago.  I would like to only speed up my laptop.  Can you tell from the specs I attach below if the drives are compatible? I was thinking on purchasing the Kingston SSD, but maybe the other options are faster.

Your help is greatly appreciated.
