Hi - I purchaesd a Kensington SD4600P docking station for my HP Spectre x360 (13-4102TU), having read a few forum posts on this site advising that it would work with the HP x360 Spectre. What I didn't check first was whether my particular x360 model 13-4102TU would be compatible... and guess what, it's not.
This particular model does not have a USB 3.1 Type C port. I have an interim work around where I've connected the USB 3.1 Type C into the Docking Station (DS) with the other end being a USB 2.0 into my HP. This at least gets me (1) connected on ethernet (as there is no ethernet port in the HP), (2) moves the printer USB from laptop to DS and moves (3) wireless keyboard/mouse USB to the DS. So 3 less plug-ins/cables (Yah).
But what doesn't work is the 2nd monitor display and power charge. I'm not so fussed about the power as this is easy enough to unplug, but I'd love to be able to somehow connect from the DS to the 2nd display monitor without plugging in to my HP.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dada1976

I don't know why you need docking statiion to connect ethernet, printer and wireless keyboard. Anyway, your Spectre is a second generation Spectres therefore no USB-C port. It does not have docking port therefore you can only use USB 3.0 docks.
Firstly you CAN'T charge your machine using USB 3.0 dock, full stop. Secondary all USB 3,0 docks support external monitor BUT if you wish to connect more than one external monitor you need a dock which has DisplayLink certified sticker such as
The above dock has enough USB port for you to plug other devices.
Regards.

Hi - Thanks for your response.
The docking station wasn't just to connect ethernet, printer and wireless keyboard. It was meant to go the whole hog and do those as well as connect to a display monitor and be able to charge my laptop. And in any case, it is slightly better, as I only have to unplug 1 cable from the docking station instead of (3 - ethernet, printer, keyboard) cables.
I only need to connect 1 external monitor (so thanks for the link, but it's not required). However, it seems that without a USB-C Display Port capability, I have no choice but to connect the HDMI from the display monitor to the Laptop.
So, unless I upgrade my laptop, it seems the docking station hasn't been as great as could be, but at least I go from 6 cables in my laptop down to 3! half way there.
