HP ENVY x360 - 15-cp0053cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Product number:     6EH45UA
Product name:         HP ENVY x360 - 15-cp0053cl
Microprocessor:       AMD Ryzen™ 5 2500U Quad-Core

I want to increase RAM from 8GB to 16GB. Unfortunately, HP is not willing to help by providing any sort of QVL or equivalent. They only want to sell the HP part, which does not match what they put in the computer. They want to send me a DDR4 2400MHz module, but the computer came with a DDR4 2666MHz module in it. For this service, they want me to pay $234 for the 8GB of RAM and only if I send it to Texas for them to put it in. (I can get 16GB of high-end gaming memory for half of that amount. Also, they say their RAM is back-ordered indefinitely due to Corona virus in China.)

HP won't even give me the remaining specs on the memory they say should have been installed at the factory (like density, timings, etc.) Therefore, I don't know if CL19 is still correct timing if I decide to get a 16GB, 2400MHz kit to ensure the two modules are a matched set. I have not found an exact match online for the memory currently installed. The closest I have come has identical make, density, speed, and timing, but the installed RAM has die generation "J" and the online option I found is older generation "C".

Anyone have a stable upgrade option or a QVL for this HP board?

(CPU-z shows mainboard as HP 8497 ver. 92.48, and can't even read the SPD data on the memory. I tried to appeal to HP based on the fact that the RAM they installed exceeds the 2400MHz max speed, and this is a quality assurance issue to no avail.)

@AK_Jackal

Its specs

   https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c06265175

It has  8 GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB) you can add 8GB to slot 2 to have 16GB max using

            https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct8g4sfs824a/ct15531049

You may be able to use higher MHz RAM but system will downgrade to 2400MHz automatically.

To verify, going with the Crucial DDR4-2400 option you linked changes the timings to CL17?
