I've been looking for a 4G mobile broadband card for my Elitebook 8470p so I can have 4G broadband when I go out. Which cards can I use in the unit?
3G mobile broadband cards are also an option but I'm not sure which one is best and if anyone has had good luck.
I appreciate any input! Thanks.

Hi:
I'm not sure if that model has a BIOS WWAN whitelist or not (no one that I know of will have that info), and if it does, any WWAN card not listed in the service manual will not work.
So...I recommend you install one of the supported WWAN cards listed in your notebook's service manual.
It is equally important that you get one that has the HP part number on it, or it probably will not work.
Below is the link to the service manual, the supported WWAN cards with their HP part numbers can be found in chapter 3, page 36, item 15.

Make sure that your notebook already has the required WWAN antennas in place before buying a WWAN card.
Also note that there are no W10 drivers for any of the WWAN cards listed, so you would have to hope the W8.1 drivers would work.

I appreciate it. I'll look into the whitelist and if there isn't any (not really likely) then I have the option using a different maker's WWAN card that should use the same kind of format.
I looked in the manual and did spot a 4G module "675793-001" in the spare parts section, if its in there it should theoretically work? Or am I only restricted to the ones in that section?

You're very welcome.
Yes, theoretically the HP lt2523 LTE/HSPA+ Mobile Broadband Module should work since it is listed in the manual.
I don't know why it isn't listed in chapter 3 though.
I'm pretty sure there is no whitelist for wifi cards.
Some folks have installed the Intel 7260 AC in theirs with the latest BIOS update.

I'll keep a lookout for that particular card, then. Everywhere I've seen sell it for well, way too much.
If there's hope for a 4G module that isn't so expensive then I'll have it kitted out with that along with the 7260AC wireless. This thread's also here for others to chime in with what they have in their 3G/4G enabled laptops.

I guess cost is relative, but they don't seem very expensive to me...not a whole lot more than a wifi card.
See if you can find a seller that ships to your country.
