HP ENVY x360 - 13-ag0014au

Hi there,

I have had trouble finding an HP dock for HP ENVY x360 - 13-ag0000au Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support

The computer works well with a generic USB-C to HDMI adapter at all resolutions: FullHD, 2K, 4K. It appears that Alt-DP mode is activated and works flawlessly. The downside is that laptop has to be charged separately.

Using Elite USB-C dock (DisplayLink): it works sometime, and it doesn't work most of the times. When it works: external monitors are all ON, computer is charged, wired network is  It might work for hours and then stops working as soon as USB-C cable is unplugged, computer / dock is power recycled, or computer wakes up from sleep.

I have tried three different Elite USB-C docks, and they showed same symptoms: First connection is always been great - working right out of the box, then second connection will be bad. When dock is not working, light on dock always flashes rapidly and computer complains about the last devices connected to this computer cannot be detected...

Using a working  HP USB-C Dock G4 Specifications | HP® Customer Support: dock is detected as HP USB-C Dock G4, with all USB ports, charging, network..., but no external monitor. It doesn't matter if I connect one or two or through HDMI or DP, just no monitors can be detected.

On paper, the G4 dock is a dream come true for my computer thanks to their Alt-DP mode. But sadly it's not the case. Is it the case that they are not compatible, or I am having some hardware defects somewhere?

Help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you @rainbow23.

I have got on the chat with HP Support. After a few troubleshooting, issue was escalated to product specialist, who first responded that USB-C G4 dock is not compatible with my Envy.

Then when I pushed further, product specialist came back with a response that there is no HP dock compatible with my Envy.

That's sad!
