HP ENVY x360 - 15-cn0002la
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The motherboard of my laptop died, and I can't afford to buy a new one from the exact same model. That's why I'm looking to replace it  with a another model.

Original: L19450601

Intel Core i7-8550U 1.80-GHz quad core processor (2400-MHz FSB, 8.0-MB L3 cache, 15.0-W), an NVIDIA N17S-LG GeForce MX150 (256-MB×32, 2 pieces) GDDR5 graphics subsystem with 4096-MB video memory, and the Windows 10 operating system

Spare: L19447601

Equipped with an Intel Core i5-8250U 1.60-GHz quad core processor (2400-MHz FSB, 6.0-MB L3 cache, 15.0-W), an Intel HD 620 graphics subsystem with UMA video memory, and the Windows 10 operating system

I  know it comes with some downgrades, but my main concern is that it won't be compatible or it wont fit.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Yes that should work. You can use any of the motherboards listed on page 54 of service manual.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06606758.pdf

Naturally, if you get without dedicated video the heatsink will have an extra "part" that you will not screw in. However, it should not bother the actual board.

Hope it helps,

David

@ebaristx

You need to understand that the HP OEM Windows license you currently have is tied to the motherboard and when you replace that, you throw away the license -- and HP will not provide you a second license.  Windows will then become deactivated and you will not be able to reactivate it due to lack of HP license.  You would have to buy your own copy of Windows and install that over your current copy and use that license to reactivate Windows.
