OMEN Laptop - 15-ek0013dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So I might have ruined my motherboard in my 2020 omen laptop.

I definitely can't afford an entire new laptop at this time but I've looked up some replacements online and came across this one

https://www.walmart.com/ip/G3EE-HP-Omen-15-EK-Intel-Core-I7-10750H-Geforce-RTX3070-Laptop-Motherboar...

It has the same processor but instead of the rtx2060 that mine has this one has a 3070.

Can anyone tell me how likely it would be to work in my laptop?

Or would only the M00123-001 fit?

Some back story just in case it's relevant or someone might learn from my mistake.

I've been looking for replacement fans online as mine are kind of shot.

Retailers seem to all offer the same fan in 12v or 5v options and I didn't know which one I have. So I touched my multimeter to the pins on the connector to the fan and the computer just instantly shuts off. No light to the power input and disconnecting the batter then holding down power to drain any residual current. Still, no light when I plug it back in. I'm sure it was a very stupid thing to do, but feel free to tell me how dumb it was anyways.

I will have my local tech shop check it out to see if anything short of the motherboard being replaced will do.

Thanks in advance.

The specs of your machine is

        https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06656951

You can use system boards on pages 48-49 of the  Maintenance and Service Guide on the following link

       https://support.hp.com/au-en/product/omen-15-ek0000-laptop-pc-series/32827267/manuals

The cost of replacing a system board is very expensive because you have to pay for

  • New motherboard,
  • New CPU,
  • New GPU if applicable),
  • New Operating system (you can't use old  license).

Regards.
