Happy new year 🎉
I would really appreciate your advice on Ram upgrade for HP Envy 17 laptop. Right now I have 2 sticks of DDR3 4 gb each 1600mghz and as I figured the max memory compatibility is 16gb. Has anyone tried 32gb on it or 16gb is the best it can do?
Thank you
Mike

Hi, Mike:
Happy New Year to you too!
Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates the max memory is 2 x 8 GB of DDR3L-1600 memory.
It is highly unlikely the notebook would support 32 GB of memory, not to mention that 2 x 16 GB of DDR3L-1600 memory would be very expensive and probably be overkill even if it did work.
You can do this to see how much memory your notebook can support:
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
