Hi! Soim a student from abroad (Caribbean) and I've had my laptop for yrs and recently my laptop shut down and indicated to me that my battery lifespan has come to an end understandable since I've had the laptop for 4yrs now give or take now the issue I have is that I did use the hp support tool and diagnosis my battery and it said red very weak (70) 499/1000 but I took a risk and shut it down for the night praying it'll work in the morn and it powered on this morn, so I take another test and now it says yellow weak ? Does this mean there is a way to slowly recover my battery? Becaeven tho my battery is now 100℅ the LED light indicator is Amber and idk what that indicates? I can assume even tho it's fully charged because the battery is old it's not showing the white LED even tho the battery is at 100℅ so some help would be great!

Hi,

You need to replace the battery. I usually replace the battery about every 18-24 months as the difference in capacity will be great.

The part number for the battery is 851610-855

You can try performing an online search with the part number

Example

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=851610-855&_sacat=0&rt=nc&LH_ItemCondition=3

On page 65 of service manual you can see the steps to replace the battery

Hope it helps,

David
