Microsoft Windows 11

I was using my computer and charging it, when I started smelling a burning smell. I turned to find the charging AC Adapter was on the floor and it looked melted and the exterior had cracked in one spot. The adapter was very very warm to the touch. I am unsure why this happened, and what I can do about getting a replacement, because I can't contact customer support since the serial number is not registering.
