Hi everyone,
A few things. The main problem is that after replacing the notebook's battery I still cannot boot this computer without it being plugged into the wall. I bought this computer in 2012 and the warranty expired in 2013 I was wondering if it would still be possible to get HP to take it in. I'm still not sure how to inquire with HP directly. Parts of the frame have chipped off over the years just due to wear and tear. I was hoping to get those pieces fixed to. Planning to give this computer to my niece. It's has some good specs (i7 intel core, 16gb ram, 1tb hd, beats audio).
Thanks for your time.

Download and install the second option on this page-HP Diagnostics UEFI. After it is installed shut down and restart-follow the directions to power on and immediately start tapping Esc key. from the menu tap F2 System Diagnostics.

Is it only in booting that the laptop won't run from battery? After it is booted can you unplug it and it runs on battery? Does the battery charge ok? Check the battery connectors to be sure all are straight and clean.
I highly doubt that HP would have parts to repair/replace on this model. Hundreds of different models have been produced since the time of that model -and parts are rarely kept in stock past a couple of years.
