Hi, my computer is not turning on. It’s plugged in but it still won’t turn on. The only sign of life is a little orange light that stays solid but gets interrupted by a white light for about 1 second. I just want to see if there’s any solution I can do before opening it up.

Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The blinking pattern you described (solid orange light with a brief white flash) usually indicates a power or battery-related issue. Before opening the laptop, try these troubleshooting steps.
Perform a Hard Reset
- Disconnect everything – Unplug the charger and remove any peripherals (USB drives, external monitors, etc.).
- Press and hold the power button for 30-60 seconds to drain any residual power.
- Reconnect the charger (without the battery, if it's removable).
- Try turning it on.
Check the Charger and Charging Port
- Ensure the charger is properly plugged in.
- Try using a different power outlet.
- If you have another compatible charger, test it to rule out a faulty adapter.
Check the Battery (If Removable)
- Remove the battery.
- Plug in the charger directly.
- Try turning it on. If it powers on, the battery may be faulty.
Check for a Display Issue
If the laptop seems to power on (fans spin, keyboard lights up), but the screen stays black:
- Shine a flashlight at the screen; if you see faint images, the backlight may be faulty.
- Try connecting to an external monitor.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
