Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. 🙂
I understand that you have an HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15 laptop and it overheats and is slow in performance. The g=fan appears to be loud. Not to worry, I'll do my best to help you with these issues.
I would like to know the following information to assist you better:
- The exact product model no. This link will help you to find the model no: http://hp.care/2bygf7l
- What was reinstalled on the laptop, was it the Windows operating system?
- Does the laptop shutdown by itself when it overheats?
- Does the laptop overheat specifically while playing games or no matter what you do it still overheats?
Meanwhile, I did some research and suggest you to perform the following steps:
- Power off the laptop.
- Remove the battery out. If the battery is integrated then leave the battery inside the laptop.
- Disconnected AC adapter from the laptop.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter.
- Power ON the laptop.
Also, please perform the steps as described in detail from this link. These steps will help reduce the fan noise and also prevent the laptop from overheating.
I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Let me know the outcome. Good luck! 🙂

Hi @Simon942,
I reviewed the post. It could be a possible hardware issue with the computer. If you've updated the bios and performed a recovery to factory settings, I would recommend that you contact Hp phone support to get the situation corrected from my previous post.
You could uninstall HP support assistant and check if it overheats. If it does not then the culprit would be HP support assistant. Please download the latest version of HP support assistant and install it again.
