HP Chromebook x360 14ct-cc000

Issue: Computer refuses to turn on

Symptoms:

- Casing around SSD is burning hot to the touch when the battery is plugged in.

- Unplugging the battery makes the SSD return to an ambient temperature

- Plugging in the power cord while the battery is unplugged does not increase the SSD temperature, and the laptop can be operated as normal (no data loss on SSD so far)

- When the SSD is hot, pushing the power button does nothing except make the power button LED blink

- Battery is not overheating while SSD is overheating

Notes:

Basically like I've put above, I've run into an odd issue where my SSD will reach very high temps while the battery is plugged in, and when I unplug the battery, the SSD returns to a normal temperature. I'm not sure if this can be fixed by A) replacing the battery or B) replacing the SSD, but I want to see if anyone else has had an issue like this.

Also, if anyone could point me to some resources that might help me diagnose this issue, I would appreciate that too.

Thanks!
