Hi @Jocke22,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP laptop is turning on with a black screen. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem:

Troubleshooting Steps for a Black Screen on HP Laptops:

Power Reset:

  • Disconnect all external devices (e.g., printers, USB drives).

  • Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery (if detachable).

  • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds.

  • Reconnect the battery and plug in the power adapter, then try to turn on the laptop.

Check for Display Issues:

  • Check if the screen brightness is set to very low.

  • Try connecting the laptop to an external monitor to see if there's any display.

Hard Reset:

  • Perform a hard reset to clear the memory and any residual electrical charge from the system. This can be done by pressing the power button down for a longer duration (as in the power reset step above).

Memory Modules:

  • If you are comfortable doing so, check the internal memory (RAM) modules. Remove and reseat them, as they might have become loose.

BIOS Reset:

  • Turn off the laptop, then turn it back on while immediately pressing the F10 key repeatedly to enter BIOS settings. Check if the screen lights up and displays BIOS options.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.
