Hi all. I have a confusion about the max memory supported by my laptop per slot.
I'm planning to upgrade my laptop memory to 12GB instead of 6GB by replacing 2GB Memory with an 8GB Memory.
My question is Can I do this upgrading?? and if I can what should I care about when buying a new ram that suitable my case.

ANY ANSWERS WOULD BE *SO* APPRECIATED.
Thank You All

Hi,

Just to add some more info.

Max Ram is 16GB of DDR3L 1600MHz RAM (2x8GB) even if service manual mentions 12GB

Yes, you can replace the 2GB module with an 8GB module and it will run as does now in single-channel mode. You can purchase from your preferred brand.

Example of RAM

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/pavilion-15-p114ne#MEMORYFilters

On page 104 of service manual you can see the steps to install the RAM

You should really consider replacing the 2.5" Hard Drive with a 2.5" SATA3 SSD which would give a great boost to the everyday performance of the PC. A lot more noticeable than the extra RAM.

Hope it helps,

David

@Mohammed1996

The specs of your machine is

   https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c04475699

It has  6 GB 1600 MHz DDR3L SDRAM (1 x 2 GB, 1 x 4 GB) now and it supports 16GB max. You can upgrade to 12GB (not recommended because it sill run single channel) or for few more $ you can upgrade to 16GB to allow machine to run dual channels.

That is your choice. You can use Samsung, Hynix or Crucial RAM. Please check existing RAM and buy same specs with larger/bigger capacity.

Hi @lomare
Thanks for your replay,
I already had upgraded my laptop and installed SSD Hard Drive (Samsung EVO 860 250GB ).
The machine had speeded up but I faced some issues in ram because of running 2 storage Disks (HDD SATA Drive + Samsung Evo SSD {Main storage Disk and system installed in it}).
Now, according to @Banhein , if I replaced my 2 Rams with (2 * 8GB) in each slot, is this will run my ram in dual channels?
Do you think this is the better approach to go with?

Thanks again for your help
