Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

I'd like to connect a laptop dock to my HP 15-ef2126wm laptop via the USB C port to use external monitors that are connected to the dock via HDMI cables.  The whole reason I purchased this laptop was for the USB C port, which I thought would work for this purpose.  However, when I connect my dock to the laptop, it doesn't work--nothing happens.  The dock works fine with my Dell laptop at work.  How can I get this to work, or do I need to return the laptop to Walmart?

It ONLY has 1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to

  • Charge your machine
  • Connect to an external monitor with / without hub/dock/adapter

OK, thanks.  I will return it back to Walmart, then. I appreciate a definitive answer.  HP may want to clarify this in their ad copy for the product, as I didn't understand that there were different types of USB C ports.
