I have the same problem as Puffinfin. My fan has made a high-pitched whirring sound since I bought it a year ago. I have tried everything s/he did...except repeatedly dropping it on my bed. I'd try that too but I don't know which side to drop. I called tech support a while ago and they were no help. So, I waited hoping that HP would push out a fix. But no. This is crazy! Is there a solution or do I simply need to drop it in the dumpster?!
